  1. Crush ginger, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and pepper into a coarse paste using a mortar and pestle.
  2. In a saucepan, boil 4 cups of water. Add the crushed spice mix, turmeric, tulsi leaves, and bay leaves.
  3. Let it simmer for 5–10 minutes until the flavors are infused.
  4. Strain the kadha into cups.
  5. Add lemon juice and sweetener (jaggery or honey) if desired.
  6. Sip warm, ideally in the morning or evening.
