🧂 Ingredients (Serves 4)
- Water – 4 cups
- Fresh ginger – 2 inches, crushed
- Cinnamon stick – 1 inch
- Cloves – ½ tsp
- Cardamom pods – 5
- Black pepper – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – ½ tsp (or 1 inch fresh turmeric)
- Tulsi (holy basil) – a few leaves
- Bay leaves – 2
- Jaggery or honey – 1 tsp (optional, for sweetness)
- Lemon juice – 1 tsp (added after boiling)
🔥 Instructions
- Crush ginger, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and pepper into a coarse paste using a mortar and pestle.
- In a saucepan, boil 4 cups of water. Add the crushed spice mix, turmeric, tulsi leaves, and bay leaves.
- Let it simmer for 5–10 minutes until the flavors are infused.
- Strain the kadha into cups.
- Add lemon juice and sweetener (jaggery or honey) if desired.
- Sip warm, ideally in the morning or evening.
